AWS marks World Environment Day
13.08.24

AWS recently celebrated World Environment Day by visiting one of our sites in the South Wales Region. Two members of our Operations & Maintenance Team, Jason Sweet and Tristan Hird, represented Ancala Water Services at an open day event, where they shared the positive initiatives we are undertaking to protect the environment.
In line with our commitment to sustainability, we provided drinking water for the event in a recyclable cardboard box and served it in compostable cups to minimise waste.
This event was a great success, offering an excellent opportunity to share our environmental achievements and highlight the work we do. Jason and Tristan had the chance to connect with onsite stakeholders and contacts, making it a productive day.
Great job Jason and Tristan!!

News News 05.11.2024 Our HR team recently took full advantage of one of our many brilliant benefits and spent the day supporting a homelessness charity in Sheffield. The Archer Project has been supporting individuals for over 30 years with things they need right now, such as warm clothing and food supplies but also with longer-term support such as housing and health. The team spent hours sorting through bags and boxes of food, clothing and care donations from local groups as part of The Project’s ‘Harvest Appeal’ as they prepare for the harsh winter period. Huge thanks to all at The Archer Project !! MORE NEWS LATEST NEWS

News News 03.10.24 Did you know that one of the benefits of working at Ancala Water Services is having the opportunity to take two paid days per year for helping charitable causes? Our Assurance Team did just that, recently getting their hands dirty by helping tidy a council run public space at Cannon Hall Museum Gardens close to our Redbrook office. They rely heavily on volunteers to keep the space looking good and useable for visitors. This is a key outside green space for the local community, so the team wanted to use their volunteer days as a whole team together in the local environment. The team were met by many local people who stopped to talk, and they thought it was a great benefit that AWS give all employees two days a year to volunteer. The team were able to get out of the office and spend time together as a team in the fresh air, strengthening connections, as well as their muscles! Paid volunteering is just one of the many employee benefits on offer at Ancala Water Services. Find out more about our wider benefit package by checking out our website by clicking here. We have a number of live vacancies currently and would love you to join our team!! MORE NEWS LATEST NEWS

AWS mark Mental Health Awareness Month in May 2024
Jordan L2024-06-18T08:00:49+00:0018/06/2024|
News News 18.06.24 From the 13th to 19th May 2024, it was Mental Health Awareness Week and this year the theme was Movement: moving more for our mental health. At AWS, we recognise the importance of good mental health and so we ran the event across the remainder of May, not just a week! We hoped this would make the event more inclusive, allowing everyone to take part, and encourage all to become more active and develop a healthier physical and mental lifestyle. We offered and ran the following during this event: Encouraged all to spend 30 minutes of working time becoming more active Ran two webinars – “the benefits of exercise on mental health” and “developing mental resilience” Held a Wear It Green Day to promote the importance of looking after our own & each other’s Mental Health Continued to review our approach to Mental Health at Work using the Mental Health at Work Commitment pillars Promoted the great benefits from your Westfield Health membership – My Gym Discounts and My Active Discounts Refreshed the skills and knowledge of 4 of our 9 Mental Health First Aiders Provided links to fitness videos that were suitable for all and could be completed at desks, indoors and outdoors Details of all the above were published on our dedicated Well-being Sharepoint page – which we will regularly update and will continue to publish details of future well-being events and webinars From the event, we had an amazing response to the 30 minutes of physical activity during working time with 29 people taking this up during May. We saw individuals from all business areas – from Projects, Operations and HR to Control Centre, Finance and Asset Optimisation - taking their pooches out on extra walks and enjoying some Vitamin D and outdoor scenery and others completing yoga and fitness classes, runs, gym sessions and bike rides. It was great to see some photos shared with us of these activities. The next events being ran in the remainder of the year here at Ancala Water Services are Women’s Health in October 2024 and Men’s Health in November 2024. We are looking for volunteers, partners and groups/charities to help us create these important topics to be great events just like this one! If you would like to be involved in these events – whether it is provide ideas and suggestions of groups/ charities/ talks or fundraising events or be involved in running a particular activity for the topic – please contact the HR team at hr@ancalawater.com. We can then discuss and plan these events in the coming months to make inclusive and available for all. MORE NEWS LATEST NEWS
AWS promotes Mental Health Awareness Month
Jordan L2024-06-18T07:41:16+00:0021/05/2024|
News News 21/05/2024 Mental Health Awareness Week this year is all about Movement: moving more for our mental health. At Ancala Water Services, we recognise the importance of good mental health and so we are promoting Mental Health Awareness month across the remainder of May! We hope this will be more inclusive, allowing everyone to take part and encouraging as many colleagues across our business as possible to become more active and develop a healthier physical and mental lifestyle. We are making this possible for all by: Encouraging all to become more active and take 30 minutes out of our working time between now and the end of May to get involved in physical exercise of some kind. We have already seen colleagues such as Tristan Drew, Finance Business Partner, Jordan Leigh, Business Development and Marketing Associate and the HR team complete bike rides, team walks and individual runs taking in beautiful scenery, getting those endorphins going and taking advantage of the vitamin D intake whilst the sunshine has been making an appearance ???? Having a dedicated Mental Health Awareness page on our Wellbeing SharePoint page. This includes links to mental health related webinars ran by #westfieldhealth , fitness videos for all abilities from #thebodycoach , reminders of our great benefits which include gym and fitness discounts and new mental health and fitness apps from Wisdom app from #healthassured and Help@Hand from #squarehealth In a world where we have become increasingly more inactive, it is important that we all take some time to become more active. Mental Health UK research has found that people who take part in regular physical exercise have up to 30% lower risk of depression and it is recognised that exercise can be more effective for the treatment of depression than counselling and medication. Thank you to all of our colleagues in helping raise awareness and promoting the importance of looking after our own and each other’s Mental Health. MORE NEWS LATEST NEWS
